Open Firefox faster

Post by rbsterli »

Speed up the opening of FF a bit by adding prefetch. Edit your command line as follows:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" /Prefetch:1

I just realized that the option to 'Quick Launch' (prefetch) Firefox isn't in the options anymore. I never used it anyways so I guess that's why I never noticed it was gone.

When did they take that out ..... can you still set that in "about:config"?

I notice that Seamonkey still has the 'Quick Launch' option in 1.05 (oops ... need to update that)

Windows prefetching is different from what you're talking about, Rick.

I just Googled it for more information, and Ed Bott and Microsoftie Ryan Myers says that it is pointless to add "/Prefetch:1" to all your programs. In fact, if you use both shortcuts with and without it, it would be worse than not using it at all.
