Can't access EasyList download site - need help

Post by redoak26 »

When I attempt to download "EL" I am given the "Alert" message: "abd is not a registered protocol." When I click "OK" that is the end, period.

My browser is "SeaMonkey."

Try installing Adblock Plus a second time. I had to do it twice on Seamonkey before it worked correctly on 2 different machines.

If it still won't work here are the static addresses. Just make a couple of new subscriptions and paste these in:

EasyList:

I did download AdBlock Plus for a second time. Then I belatedly upgraded SeaMonkey to v.1.0.6 after seeing a security warning on another site. I saved all my settings when upgrading.

Then when I went for the EL and EE downloads the connection was made without a hitch. I will assume all is in place, although there were no confirmations.

Thanks for your prompt replies, {redoak26}

FWIW, after installing AdBlock Plus, the page containing the links to install the filters *must* be opened via the browser into which AB+ can be installed (e.g.: SeaMonkey, Firefox).

For example, if you try to do it from Safari (on a Mac) you an error message about an illegal protocol... This is because it isn't so much a download link, as it is a message to be passed to AB+, telling it where to find the filters.

Hint: I always read this forum from Safari.
Hint: I do not *routinely* check the mail box of this disposable address!
