Rick752

Post by rbsterli »

It's with great sadness that have to announce the passing of a good friend and our EasyList author, Rick752. Rick had suffered a stroke on St Patrick' Day, and I was just informed that Rick had passed away last evening. During this short period, while hospitalized, Rick had his family very close by his side. There was some able communication and awareness between Rick and his family before his passing and although given this short period to "prepare" for the inevitable, this news (as with any of this type) is still quite shocking and difficult to accept.

I have a lot of good, and most of all FUN & FUNNY memories of Rick and I will truly miss his gift of gab  and wide array of knowledge about a variety of subjects. I have already spoken to Wladimir Palant who assures us that the EasyList will live on and be maintained regularly. The funny thing is Wladimir sent that message to me yesterday morning; which if I know Rick it's almost like he was waiting for that assurance! He was very proud of and dedicated to this project and most of all I know he enjoyed the communication, contributions and friendships he has made with others while he was able to assemble and maintain the EasyList.

Rick, R.I.P., buddy. You will truly be missed!

Thank you, Rick, for everything you did for us. Although I didn't know you personally, it's still a strange feeling that you won't be here any more. With EasyList you managed that I won't forget you as long as I'm here in this forum and using ABP. Rest in Peace.

That's sad to hear about this. I never thought it would happen like that. Rick and others helped me a lot to optimize my filters list.
Hope he may rest in peace...

This a really sad day : ' (

I was gone for merely a week, and come back to find out this.

R.I.P Ricky, he was a great person
I still remembered when I joined here back in 2006, and there was only a thread and ppl threw all the new adservers, and rick patiently added them :-(

Feel sad now :-(

I hope the easylist legacy continues

I'll help out in any capacity needed, many people rely on easylist and the last thing Rick would want is any ad's or false positives getting through. We have to move on from here, Rick has laid a great foundation for us to work from :)

You leave a little piece of yourself behind in everything you say and do. Most of us here have never known Rick, but as we all use his work, I'd like to think a bit of him is living on all over the world.

It is always sad to lose a good person and a friend. He will be missed and we will do our best to honor his memory. My condolences to family, friends and anyone who has benefited from his work. I was saddened to hear this as I was on my way to present a question about what he did so freely for everyone. RIP.

I am very sorry for telling people in the Filter Suggestions and False Positive Reports forums that rick752 was "temporarily unavailable" and/or "busy in real life." (Mods: If you see any such posts from me still remaining, feel free to edit them.)

Thank you very much for all your hard work.
