Re: Fake News Adblock List

That's nice. But fake news websites are worse than ads the filter would be you yourself.

Re: Fire Icon on Threads?

@Lanik Thanks for the explanation but I think the explanation fits "Moved topic" more. @smed79 Example above seems to fit the use case for "Link forum", forum being the operative word here.

It's a thread that's been moved to a different forum.
Then what is "Moved topic" for?
smed79 wrote:

It's just a link, e.g. http://example.com/
Can you please elaborate a bit? I am still confused :?

Re: Fire Icon on Threads?

@smed79 That doesn't explain the role of Link Forum.
In case it's not obvious yet this is an extension not something I put together in 15 minutes.
Dammit, here I was thinking we have a literal genius on our hand here

Re: Fire Icon on Threads?

@Lanik I meant with the "versus imgur" part.

I also noticed that you added an icon legend near the footer, nice. Add the fire icon one there too it was the most confusing one for me.

Re: Silent Crypto Miners Appearing on Websites

@smed79 I thought you had some control over ABP's subscription page :p

What I meant with not much testing was that we don't know if its going to be an actively maintained list and handled properly, that is all.

Re: Fire Icon on Threads?

@smed79 Thanks for this, this is extremely useful. What is the "Link forum" one for?

Also, can this be added in the FAQ or somewhere similar as this would be really helpful for new site comers as well.

So basically, we don't know what defines a "Hot Topic" right, like how much activity or posts in a period of time just PHPBB knows that?

Fire Icon on Threads?

So, I have been seeing this fire icon on some threads in some subforums. What is it for? What does it mean?

@smed79 That list seems to be fairly new. Is it correct to add it to the database without much testing?

Were you the one who added it on the ABP page?

Lanik Exactly, but here we have people who not only have no problem with TPB for doing so but also support it https://torrentfreak.com/the-pirate-bay-website-runs-a-cryptocurrency-miner-170916/#disqus_thread. Silent Crypto Miners Appearing on Websites

I just came across a website that was using a silent JavaScript miner (crypto miner) called Coinhive which was using a lot of CPU of my not so powerful device. These JavaScript mines seem to have gained popularity in recent times especially with news reports coming in that even The Pirate Bay has st...

Re: Pale Moon Blocks users from installing Adblocking Extension

Lanik I thought they blocked all adblock extensions. They have blocked AdNauseam which I personally find to be harmful. I get the blocking of ads (hey that's why I am here) but blocking them and on top of that sending fake clicks, this is just wrong. With adblock you just block ads no data sent but...

indiatimes.com

The "Popular Slideshows" sidebar is hidden on http://economictimes.indiatimes.com due to this filter in EasyList: ###rightad1.

This can be fixed by:

Code: Select all

economictimes.indiatimes.com#@##rightad1
The slideshow itself is not an advertisement but not sure why they named the element as rightad1.

The DMCA request should have first been published and discussed before ta...

Ad Domain Taken Down From EasyList due to DMCA Request

fanboy Recently pushed a commit to EasyList that removed an ad domain (belonging to Admiral ) giving the reason " Removed due to DMCA takedown request ". I think we all know how wrong and false this is. Domain names don't come under DMCA and in no way should this takedown request have been taken se...
