Hey, back on the forums after quite some time. Happy new year everyone! ================================================================== https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-46988319 Looks like Google is trying to change the basic extension code to limit ad blockers on Chromium which does not seem ...

Ever been scammed by an ad?
I was when trying to download uTorrent of all things clicked the wrong button, didn't realize that and ended up infecting my PC, have never looked back from an adblocker since. Someone in my family was about to fall over for the you have won an iPhone/S9 etc. thing. They were about to handover their...

Opera Adblock commercial
Just came across this ad from Opera about adblocking in their mobile browser Opera Mini.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=154oyOxjR8c
Funny little ad (in reality though many pages do end broken on Opera Mini).

A discord server would be nice especially if it can be embedded here onto the forums and other places. So as to let people know it exists.

MikroTik routers infected with Coinhive
Many MikroTik have been hacked and been installed with Coinhive (cryptocurrency [Monero] miner) code. The vulnerability was fixed with a patch this April but many have not installed it yet especially ISPs. If you have a MikroTik router you should definitely clean and patch it (cryptocurrency can rui...

Re: Who owns Adblock (Chrome)?
smed79 I just refer to them as Adblock and ABP otherwise it gets very confusing :[ Lanik You're right about that. Who owns Adblock (Chrome)?
There isn't a lot of clarity on who owns the Adblock application which also recently acquired ublock.org. Michael Gundlach sold the site sometime back but there was not much clarity on who it was sold to. Development seems to have mostly died in recent times with no new features being added and the ...

Re: New Portuguese subforum
@diaux Oh, I thought it did. es and pt websites probably just use the same ad networks.
@Lanik @mediumkreation I also see that an "Indian List" subforum has been created as well. Any reason for that? I guess this would also be the first country based list.

Chrome is 10 years old
So, Google Chrome finally celebrated its 10 year anniversary on September 2, 2018. As many flaws it may have its still one of the best browsers out there today and I'm glad to hear this news. There's a reason most people use it and its still holding its strong position , unlike previous dominant bro...

Re: mail.ru is not accepted for registration
It doesn't as just about anyone can sign up for free VoIP service and get a phone number. Better yet some services such as Yahoo only need your phone number for account recovery. Which means just about anything goes. I see. I thought they didn't allow VoIP numbers, from what I know Google blocks Vo...

Spam from mail.ru? From what I can see they require a phone number to sign up (smed79 wrote:... and the most spamming service

They announced this a while back last year. Symantec has already sold off its certification business to Digicert, don't think they'll be rebuilding a new cert infrastructure anytime soon.

Ah that fixed it, thanks @okiehsch. Was the default setting switched from a Tab to a Window? I find the Tab to be much more user friendly rather than a full blown Window pop up.

I am on a new computer and I installed uBO on it after downloading Google Chrome. But for some reason the logger window is opening in a new window instead of a new tab. Re: Tracking in uBlock (ublock.org)
Interesting. Well looks like someone is trying to capitalize on the uBlock name. Not sure how I feel about this, AdBlock ( getadblock.com ) seems to have been lagging behind in recent times and most of the original team has left (Michael Gundlach, Gabriel Cubbage) not to mention that if ublock.org p...

intense I just noticed that the the site had been added to the "badware risks" list. In that case I agree that "ublock.org" will fit the scope of the list to be added to it. Lanik You'd think after all these years that Chris would either abandon uBlock or at least be half decent...

ROList - Romanian filter list fiasco
The ROList filter list for Romanian websites had been the default on Adblock Plus for quite some years and as such was also added as the default in uBlock Origin . Recently ROList's maintainer Zoso , who is also a popular blogger, was accused of being lenient on ads and letting his own blog's ads th...

Re: Tracking in uBlock (ublock.org)
This blocking is no legitimate and exaggerated. Many others adblockers track their users , for what not add ghostery to the badware list? Now that I think about it Med seems to be right. Indeed uBO is technically a fork of uBlock and there seems to be no particular reason to block its website; gorh...
