Hi. I noticed in the footer of essentially every page of this site (not just the home page)... https://reepgreen.ca ...that there's a "Social Media" block that is blanked out if Fanboy's Annoyance is enabled. It normally contains five social media icons. Considering that it's so low on the...

Articles on the site, such as this one: https://www.howtogeek.com/795478/windows-31-30-years-later Are missing authorship/date of publishing, since they're being hidden by the cosmetic filter (due to Fanboy's Annoyance). https://i.imgur.com/ycXA9Xe.png It would be a good idea to workaround that. Tha...

Re: techrepublic.com
So, when you do that for any article you want, you'll see a new line of information appear. Yes, we get some things we don't want, but certainly something that we do: authorship and the timestamp.

Re: techrepublic.com
Try disabling cosmetic filtering in uBO: when you do, you'll see the byline that I mentioned (this is the case for any article on the site). It's kind of a tricky situation, since the goal is not to have the social stuff but to still have the author and date show. It may not be possible, but in that...

Fanboy's Annoyance correctly removes social elements in articles but also removes the byline and the datestamp under the article's title. I think this happens because they're both in... .byline ...so they both go away. Example: https://www.techrepublic.com/article/windowsfx-is-the-linux-distribution...

Re: mediaite.com
Yes. I'm pretty sure when I posted yesterday I had updated filters, but maybe not. It's unlikely that a change was committed between the time I posted yesterday and when you did, so maybe I didn't, or maybe I was looking at a stale page. In any case, looks good at this point.

This wasn't a problem before (roughly) a few weeks ago, but it seems now with default (updated) filters in uBO (Chrome/Firefox, Win10) that the video box in articles on this site that contain videos is now hidden. I've noticed that Fanboy's Annoyance creates an issue on many pages at that domain and perhaps other microsoft.com domains, but I haven't verified that. For example: https://news.microsoft.com/skills You'll notice the "Click here to load media" blocks. The buttons don't even work, but ther...

If it's appropriate for one of your lists, I recommend this, which comes from Reddit:
Code: Select all
rogerebert.com##.advertisement:upward(.columns)
rogerebert.com##.columns.is-spaced--large:style(margin-bottom: 0.75rem !important)

Is this one of the rare sites constructed in such a way where gap-closing isn't possible?

The site shows large empty blocks with the word "Advertisement" in them (or just an empty block, depending on the browser). Is there any way of closing them up? You can see the effect all over the place, but particularly in articles, such as this one: https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/bor...

That looks great. I notice the home page still has them though, so just mimicking what you've done, this seems to work for that:

uBO (Firefox, Chrome): Default filters+Fanboy annoyances Example URL: https://apnews.com/e57b0241cac209caad4f16b88a2b6377 There are two issues: 1) The right rail ads (this looks easy) 2) Ad blocks interspersed throughout articles (more difficult due to changing element names from article to article)

I noticed that in any section of the site, such as: https://downdetector.com/status/spectrum The section normally devoted to Disqus comments (not to be confused with the Reports section further down) is collapsed to this. It's an enticement to signup, but such articles are not paywalled. You just need to click the "X" to continue.
I forgot to mention the filters involved: the uBO defaults + Fanboy Annoyances + uBlock filters – Annoyances + Fanboy's problematic-sites
I'll try adding the one you mentioned.

Re: reddit.com
It turns out that this is caused by one filter undermining another. In my case, it was Fanboy's Problematic websites List (note: already part of the Enhanced trackers, Ultimate and Complete list, so if anyone has one of those, this would apply) countermanding EasyList. It's unclear why Fanboy's list...

They show up in places like: https://www.reddit.com/hot As you scroll down, there are typically two full-size boxes.
