Re: EasyList - addressing ethics & confusion

It seems that in July I mistakenly added a filter string to the EasyList that started a domino affect between Mozilla, Google and Adsense advertisers last month. The reason for the domino effect was that the EasyList update (with that string in it) coincided with the release of the latest Firefox. ...

A-freaking-men! I have been forced out of one site for using Ad Block Plus, or Konqueror's adblocker: http://s149.photobucket.com/albums/s59/ ... locker.png

The continue link of course logs you out.

I know where to find one!

http://pgl.yoyo.org/as/

You can get a list of domains or IP addresses from there--just specify what type of list you'd like!

Haha, that makes me glad I'm running Kubuntu where updates come in the form of packages that overwrite old versions. :D

Even though I've switched back to Konqueror :P

Ads on SonicStadium are not blocked [added]

I've noticed that there are ads on SonicStadium's forums that are not blocked. Unfortunately you need an account to see the forum at all, at http://www.sonicstadium.org/board One such ad is at http://b1.perfb.com/o1.php?ID=1795&PURL=greatgaming.at/sonicstadium That seems to be the only missed ad...

Re: Is this the end of Thunderbird?

I would not be surprised.

However, I use an operating system that's mostly based on software that's developed as a hobby, so I don't think this means the end of Thunderbird.

(But I use KMail anyway. )

Re: [Stats] Subscription Filter Stats

Dang, now I'm wishing I could use EasyList in Opera and Konqueror. G's filters are the best for Konq (well, they're the most popular in Konq anyway), and I've found a couple for Opera. (Opera's adblocker seems to be like Konqueror's but without regexp support.) I also have to say that G's filters wo...

Well, you went and done it now. I had to go get it and try it out. I couldn't wait any more. Thanks! j/k You're welcome! :P I have to say I'm impressed how well it's working with profiles on Vista now. Not all screwy like it was early on, not that it matters to you, but I thought I'd clear that up....

Re: Gran Paradiso (Firefox 3.0 alphas)

Just advice, but for stability I would wait till the first beta comes out. And then it will (suppose to) have all the new features set.. so that would be best for what you want to test. Fx3 also messes with lots of things and (from what I've read) it's hard to go back to 2.x because of them. Like i...

Re: Gran Paradiso (Firefox 3.0 alphas)

Have you tried disabling version checking for extensions. Then any extension can install without problem.. it being compatible is another issue however. But you wouldn't have to hack a thing. Here is instructions I did once. I don't know if this works on Linux or not, but I don't see why it wouldn'...

Re: Gran Paradiso (Firefox 3.0 alphas)

I didn't realized that the pre and present Firefox versions were such a PITA on Linux. Sounds like a rough time. I'm very happy to hear that the compatibility problems are being addressed. I've heard some very encouraging things about Firefox 3 and may just give Gran Paradiso a try. This is great n...

Gran Paradiso (Firefox 3.0 alphas)

I used to like Firefox 1.0, but with 1.5 and 2.0, they really turned it into a bloated and slow product, at least on Linux. (I stopped using Windows before Firefox was popular, so I really don't know what it was like on Windows. I am a Kubuntu Feisty user and am using KDE.) I kept hitting bugs that ...

Re: [Test] Images / .gif animations don't load

Hahaha, EasyList doesn't block image number 4! I know. That's pretty funny as I don't use that particular blocking string. It must drive the guy crazy who made that. :) I probably should have mentioned that in my first post. :? Hahaha, it wasn't an actual ad, though, so I actually think that'...

Re:

From personal experience, yes you can (although there's no way to automatically update it, though maybe you could write a script for that). Also I believe konqueror does support whitelisting, if you do @@somesite.com somesite.com will be whitelisted. I haven't used KDE or Konqueror in quite a while...

Ironic that they would cover this while that site is ad-supported. But I do agree with you that it's nice to see that. That was my point in the OP. Most magazines and other ad-supported media consider adblocking a taboo subject with their columnists. It is not to be discussed in any manner .....

Can you use EasyList in Konqueror?

Hi, I was just wondering if there's a way to use EasyList in Konqueror with its built-in ad blocker. I know it supports Filterset.G, but Konqueror doesn't support whitelisting yet, so I get many false-positives with it.
